Upgrading Headlight ????

I want to increase my light output. I know I could buy a better light setup, but is there any way to do it with the stock housing. If I had the stator rewound could I simply use a higher wattage bulb? Is there such a bulb that would fit? Assuming this is possible, would the gauge of the wiring have to be increased? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm pretty dumb when it somes to electrical stuff.

watts / volts = amps (ie.) 30watts/12volts=2.5amps
use ampage to determine size of conductor (wire) wire sizing guide found in NEC digest.
check out trail-tech or baja lighting.

I used to ride at night many, many years ago. I liked it. Richard Wilson (
http://www.houseofhorsepower.com) got a special permit a couple weeks ago to host a night ride at Draper. I think about 20-30 people showed up to ride. He also had a display tent with several bikes with Trail Tech lights that you could test ride. I was told that he is going to try to do it on a regular basis. If he does another one I will let you know.

Yeah I heard about it but too late. It would be fun but I removed the wiring on mine since I never use it (and I broke the bulb/housing).
Might take the DRZ, it'll be interesting with slicks

Lights come in handy when you ride with Carvr
Usually don't get back to the truck til after dark
Then there was that time he wanted to ride down a train tunnel

Richard Wilson used to live up this way...Cottage Grove. He does excellent valving work on the KDX KYB shock!
Common knowledge has it that you can rewind the existing coil and get a good bit more power out of it (10-20%). The key is to wrap it tight, wrap it even, and there is room for another layer or two, I think. You need to use coated wire..tell any motor shop what you're after and they should be able to supply you with winding wire. Consider that changing from a 35W to a 50W bulb (and having the power to run it) is an increase in output of OVER 40%.
