You guys all know that I am new to this so bear with me as I ask the "obvious to you" questions.
Is there a certain type of transmission oil that you would suggest I run in my '93 200's bottom end?
My ol' man suggested Mobile 1 and also suggested I ask for your opinions.
Thanks for your patience with me.

I have 3 quart cans of old 70's Conoco 30 wt. laying around. So as an experiment I mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with Type F tranny fluid. This is exactly what we ran years ago. It works great and the tranny shifts flawlessly. So use what works for you. You just don't want the slipping agent in the oil. I have tried many 20/50 wts and specific motorcycle brands. All are good, some more good(er). I have used Bel Ray, Kendal 20/50, Honda Brand, Kaw Brand, Yamaha Brand and found they are all good or adequate.

Pro Honda GN-4 (10W-40) "for 4 strokes". Back of the bottle says it is also recommended for all Honda 2-stroke transmissions. It is available at most any bike shop and it works better than Bel-Ray or Maxima. Missed shifts diminished to almost zero once I switched to it.

I've used a very inexpensive concoction that Mr. Black recommended on this site that's something along the lines of what bradf suggested . . .
2 qt of "F" type AFT and 1 qt GTX 10w-40. Cost is a little over $2 a quart for the mix. No problems. I do change the oil about every 3-4 gastank-fulls.
If you do this make sure it's the "F" type, not Dextron/Mercron [sp?] stuff which has the undesired slippery agents. I use the Dextron stuff in our fork tubes, though!
You do have to mix the stuff. For some that's maybe not worth what little trouble it is. For me that means I get to lock the doors, pull the shades down, and pour my "secret" blend into bottles . . . BWAH HA HA HA HAAA!!
