mine was a 1973 honda 50 still got it...and then i got a Honda XL185 Enduro that thing came from a farm they just had it sitting in the woods..that thing went to hell and back and then back again

Mine was a 1975 Malaguti 50 then a 1978 50 mototrail, 1978 CT70, 1984 XR100,1984 CR80, 1985 YZ80, 1997 TRX300FW, 1999 TRX300 FW, 2003 TRX350ES, 2001 XR200 and now a 1990 KDX 200 named after a bubbles character "The Green Ba****d"

i tihink mine was a Z50, also. I don't know what year, but about the same.
My favorite bike at that age was a CB175 with knobbys I used to run in the woods like a madman.

1975 TY 125 yamaha trial got it when I was 14 what a blast! So easy to learn on!

A 1963 rotary-valved yamaha 80... masterfully assembled with soft corrosion-prone bolts, pressed steel frame, peeling chromed parts, it had surprisingly good power with oil injection, and when setup with trials tires it even actually kinda worked off-road (suspension? nobody needed no stink'n suspension back then, or helmets either, for that matter.) - I did not envy the other off-roaders on their oinkmaster triumphs. My little 80 didn't hurt nearly so much when it landed on me, heh.

Back in '79 I learned to ride on a friend's '75ish Suzuki TS125. His dad had bought him a brand new '79 Honda Elsinore CR125 - I still remember how wicked that thing seemed. Loud, high-revving, oh how cool. After I got up the nerve to try the CR125 it scared the poop out of me at first but then I grew accustomed to riding it because my friend started riding his dad and older brother's bikes. So off and on I started riding the TS or the CR depending on who went riding . . .

but I didn't get my first bike until Christmas of '80: a brand new '81 RM125!! First water-cooled version, man that was an awesome bike. I can still remember it - my dad told me, "Jimmy, this isn't like that trail bike you ride around, this thing is a RACE bike; it's actually kind of scary so GO EASY". Imagine the look on his face when I crossed the driveway for the first time on the back wheel, thottle wide-open!!

One of these days I'd like to find an '81 RM and restore it, just because.

We feel you man, same here! My poor TY is rusting away in my dad's garage back in europe so I really can't restore it what a shame.

I'll bet nobody has heard of one of these.........

WHAT FUN WE HAD....ran right up with a DT175....when the cops were on our tail.

A late '70s RM100, and i was WAY too big for it.

Then a '77 DT175, that I just sold tonight!

I rode allot of my buddys bikes, and then I bought a Suzuki SP125. This was the DR before the DR. It was an 87, and I had to buy it myself, working at Frisches bussing tables at 15. I rode that thing everywhere! I mean everywhere! To school, to work, in the trails, on the track, even drag raced it once! Oh, the good ole days.....

Mine was a brand new 1968 Honda S-90.

Honda had a white sale in 1969 (American Honda had a ton of white bikes that would not sell and I knew the owner of the local Honda shop. I bought a create of them (2 to a create) for $369.00, not each but both of them and yes they were white.

One was for my brother and the other was mine. We stripped them down to nothing and painted the beer can frame black and the guppy tanks orange.

I extended the swinging arm 1- 1/2" and put a Webco rake plate for the front end that I extended the travel 1". I also used Webco's Birlliumn (sp) front and rear fenders.

I built both engines; Mauhl 108cc 3mm over size piston kit, H&C (Harman $ Collins) 7240 cam shaft that I ground my self (I use to work for them) with my ported heads that I also machined it for needle bearings for the cam bearings, made the header and exhaust system too.

Mine had no lights and had knobby dirt bike tires and my brother rode his on the street with the appropriate lighting, universal tires and muffled a little.

Both of our bikes kicked serious ass on the Ace 100 Hodaka's (sp) which were king in those days. People could not believe that they got beat so bad by a Honda 90.

CT-90: Yellow '71 and red '73. Best trail bikes ever built IMHO. My dad and I would go riding every chance we got. Wish we still had them.

The bike had such a low center of gravity that it was nearly impossible to crash. 1st gear low-range would tractor anywhere. And who wouldn't love a dirt bike with a rack . My uncle had a CT-90 that even had a spare fuel can built into the bike (from the factory).

One day I completely submerged my bike in a mud hole. I rode home about 20 miles with the crankcase full of nasty, dirty water. Flushed out the crankcase, filled it up with fresh oil and the bike ran like new. Totally bullet-proof.

Those were the best days of my youth by far.

XR75 with a DG pipe what a great bike it was. that was back in the day when $1.50 you could fill the tank buy a soda and somthing to eat , and still have change.
