fork oil and spacers

Im puting new linkage in my bike today or tomarro and setting up the rear's sag for me. Since I'm setting up the rear I figured I should do the forks too. Ron told me that Mobil atf oil can be used instead of fork oil. Can anyone tell me the weight the atf oil? I've heard you should replace the spacers with 1 inch pvc pipe. How long should these spacers be? I'm 5'11 and 160lbs. with gear. I have .40 springs in the forks.
