Ok a guy try to tell me that a yamaha dt200 1995 is exaclty the same bike as a stock 89-94 kdx200. I mean same feeling same agility, weight, performance,torque,power,lowend.........

I think this guy is totally wrong.

Is it a joke?^

What the heck  ?

Please give me some anwsers...Image

Kawasaki rates the kdx motor at 37hp. We all know that this is a crank rating, and power at the wheel is maybe 27-ish.

Yamaha rates the DT200 engine at 31 hp. Given the good chance this is also not rwhp, the dt200 is underpowered. The rest...well... who knows. If they were the same bike, wouldn't they be somewhat popular?

The wr200 is aircooled, so I don't think it's the same.

Maybe the old WR's were aircooled but the newer ones are all water cooled. So are the DT200's. They have a totally different power valve setup in the DT vs WR. The DT is servo controlled from memory. They (DT) are in NO way comparable to a KDX, period. WR200's aren't all that different to a KDX.

The newer (US) WR200's had an electric powervalve too, but thanks for confirming what I was thinking. I knew the WR vs KDX motors were comparable, but had no idea about the DT....From the sounds of it, it's NOT a comparison. The WR200 is basically the original 200 EXC type setup...Built from a 125, w/ wide trans.

I don't think that little guy actually rides the bike. :?

OK they ARE basically the same engine - with some minor differences. The WR cylinder got the nikasil plating treatment, straight onto the aluminium. The DT scored the steel bore. There is differences in the porting between the bikes as well, yet the DT can be altered to get similar gains.

Both ran different carbs, the DT one had less adjustment options, and some modified DT's ended up with YZ 125 carbs (once the airbox issues were resolved).

The servo powervalve system is the same on both bikes, and a WR200 performance pipe will fit onto a DT200. Basically the DT125, DT200 and WR200 stem from pretty much the same design.

Hope that clears it up. :partyman:

My neighbor has one and I gave him a pretty good WHOPPIN down the

Absolutely no contest !

He then had to get out his Yamaha 600 induro
that I was able to walk away from ever so slightly.
Kinda pissed him off
And that was before my bike got RB'ed
