98/99 does not sound right. 99-01 sounds right. 96/97-98 sounds right. Figure what it is BECUASE a 98 Fork will not fit into a 99-01 TT & Visa-Versa

Well I finished reading and they are 99 Forks. Thats a great deal for you since they DO NOT have to be shipped from some other continent :supz:

just remember you can use a pre 99 wheel but you have to have 99-02 axel and spacers.

Good buy for $200. A friend e-mailed me regarding those forks, but I did not check my e-mails until the auction had expired. Good for you as I probably would have bid a lot higher.

Who were you going to use to press the stem out/in of the respective lower triple clamps? I have inquired with two bike shops in Melbourne and neither wanted anything to do with it. Both said that the stem was not designed to be pressed out. I was going to give Ballards a call to see if they could recommend someone, otherwise check with a engineering company.

I know you are located in Tasmania, but thought I would ask anyway!

HAHAHAHA @ "Both said that the stem was not designed to be pressed out."

Thats how alot change the bottom steering bearing.

Any good machine/metal shop should be able to do it. I got mine done on the spot basically so let me know if you need help finding someone to do it. I'm in Sydney BTW. I doubt Ballards could help either to be honest but could be worth a try. If I were you I would go to http://www.dirtbikeworld.net and ask about a machinist in Melbourne as 60-70% of the users are from Melbourne. I was onto those forks the day they were listed and we watched em like hawks. We were going to about $450 before we let em go. Strange no one else bidded though as there is 60 odd page views, just lucky I guess.

BTW Welcome from a fellow aussie. :partyman:

(My machine work cost approx. $200 but I had the top clamp shimmed, stem turned down to size and a grub screw put into the stem, ready a few hours later.)
