Triple clamp spacer, top or bottom of upper triple?

Does it matter if the spacer (most people use the KX stem nut) goes on the top or bottom of the upper triple clamp? I am going to machine a one piece sleeve/spacer to deal with the up and down slop as well as the slop on the shaft and I can't decide if it matters which way the up and down spacer goes.
As of now I am going to put the spacer underneath between top triple and stem nut so that on top it only has the stock washer and triple nut.
This is on a 2000 KDX 200 with 2001 KX125 forks.

Most put it on the bottom for clearance issues for the bars and to raise the top triple so that you have more adjustablity in the forks as most are longer than the KDX forks.
Just put it under the TT's!

Thanks, just needed a little reassurance! I will post the dimensions with of my final spacer when I machine it and fit it up.

FWIW - My stem bushing thickness was 1.0 mm or ~.040 inchs thick to take out the stem slop. Perfect fit IMO.
It looks like your is going to be closer to 1.5mm or .060 inches. Strange!!

I am going to machine this tonight and see how it fits. The wall is 1.49mm (.059"). This should give me about what the factory KDX and KX slop is between the stem and triple.

It looks like you are on track for a sweet set-up.

I got it half machined after work today, should be good to go tomorrow. I should be swapping the steering stem tomorrow. I blatently copied kev200's steering stop. Otherwise I am good to go!

Good deal. The steering stems should press out pretty easily...12 tons of pressure and some heat if it not coming right out.

10 tons to press it out, 1 to 2 to press it back into the KX triple. Hopefully it will all go together this weekend!
