Here's Me hitting the top speed of the 1990 Kdx 200 ( the mounted speedometer says 140km/h ( 86mph) and the gps said 145km/h
(90mph) Do with that knowledge as you will but I've had a hard time finding an actual top speed run

COOL! Is that an SR version? What is the gearing?

My old 1987 KDX200 was good for 70 mph.

Only managed 62 out of my KDX 220… but I was jetted rich and on 5psi hare scramble tire. Managed 98 out of the XR650R on the same day. A richer main might get 100? Just a little sputter @ WOT. Was super neat, smooth and not scary.

Bonneville Salt Flats last month, borderline conditions (a little wet!), no wind.

It’s so easy to do (aside from the ‘getting there’ part). You literally just drive out onto the lake bed and find the cones (you can use Google Maps to locate the general location. They are 5 mile long runs with cones marked eacy mile, I think there were 5 lanes of at least 100 yard width? The day I went was wetter than ideal which is probably why no one was doing runs. Previous visits were dry like concrete and the speed run zone was busier. The self-serve car wash I found afterwards in West Wendover was filthy with salt piled up that you literally walked through like mud to spray off the bikes and the truck. It was a real job too. It hardened on the exhausts and was literally everywhere. I was digging salt out of me for a couple days!

The yellow line marks the timing zone. It’s easy to find when you roll out there, look for orange cones.

Hey man, riding on the lake may not be as scary BUT I was doing that on an open road and I had to go the wrong way a bit not to end up in a ditch and on a few previous runs I almost hit a car or two so Im really thankful I didn't end up a red mush :busted:

Hi, Moonstomper. It looks faster than it actually is. Its true strength is it can cross the continent at 105 mph without stopping longer than for tank refills, arrive, turn around, and immediately run the return at the same speed with only fuel stops.
