V-force 3 & carbon fiber reed petals sanding rough edges

I had the idea to lightly sand the edges of my new reed petals because they were a little rough.I decided to google after and Ive only found one random scooter forum where they talked about doing this.

Has anyone else considered or done it? I just went over them with a fine diamond nail file. I figure it might help a little with the edges breaking down or with too small to notice pieces coming off when they break in.

If someone has a suggestion as to how often I should check on them I’d love to hear it too. I’ve read 20hr to once every year or two.

Petal with white dot has been filed.
I felt very OCD until I looked at them under magnification. Now you can think I’m OCD.

Yeah you shouldn't have to do that. Junk. I recently bought the VF4 and the quality was crap. Not positive it wasn't a knock-off so I went with a RAD Valve.

I can speak for the legitimacy of my reeds, I used to work at a dealer and purchased them straight from a distributor. I’m sure that other brands of reeds can have something similar happening too if the manufacturing process is similar. Not by any means am I arguing that they are high quality. I’ll have to find that out through use if they hold up.
