First time removing carb, I’m about to have a nuclear meltdown trying to figure this out… I’m holding the spring back from the carburetor throttle cap, I can’t figure out how to release the cable from the slide..

I must be dumb, there’s zero information about this from google search.

I got it.. I noticed the hex head but couldn’t break it free with pliers, I think it took a 6mm socket, and unscrewed. Meltdown averted…

The only Google results said to release the throttle cable and push it towards the slide, but that obviously was for a different bike.

Man this is not much a beginner bike, very little information or videos online.

Hi. Do yourself a favor and buy a service manual, whether OEM or CyclePedia. It will be the best money you can spend on it.

Yes, it takes a 6 mm hex, not pliers. Try to use the correct tool for the job.

If I'm recalling correctly, yes you just need a 6mm socket on a nut runner as you'd found,which is different than the PEK 36 AG short body versions that I work with more regularly on KTM 200's in which you just pull the spring back against the cap and push the slide away, and slip the cable out after applying slight downward pressure on it to unhook it.

I can't recall if the aftermarket PWK 35 Air Striker long body is like the original KDX PWK33/35, but I'll find out soon as I'm running a Lectron Billetron Pro Series on one KDX220R & probably switching out the old style Lectron Legacy carb for my Ron Black modified PWK35 Air Striker Quad Vent.

At any rate, the 6mm is always needed to access the jet needle for metering adjustments in clip position height.
