Stock fork / shock users only… I’m curious what height you have settled on with your forks in the mounts, what springs you are running (what is your weight?), what mods you have made to your stock suspension?

Don’t bother to comment If you are running any lowering links or USD forks. If you have an Ohlins though I am curious about what your model and shock dims are. Mine is working great now (thanks Kelly!), but am curious what others have done that went that route.

I’m just curious if anyone has found a fork height setting that works better in the woods for them helping the bike turn. Also if anyone is running a steering dampener, what type and thoughts on that.

Currently my forks are set at the first line from the top.
.42 Race Tech springs with Belgian Valves and 5 wt KYB oil

Shock has been rebuilt with 5.2 spring, Belgian Valve.
100 mm sag for my weight with gear at 185-90lbs.

Moon, I will share requested info for my 1999 KDX 220, which has stock forks and shocks and no lowering links or USD forks. The set-up summarized below is perfect for me. I'm pretty sure I ride in less woods than you. There is not as much dense forested areas here on the California Central Coast / Los Padres National Forest where I live & ride. I once lived and rode dirt bikes extensively in wet, muddy, tight forests in upstate NY. It's quite different than here. My riding is predominantly technical, hard, mountainous terrain. The majority of the forested areas I ride in are not very tight and usually not muddy. But, in the limited tight woods that I find, I'm very happy with these settings.

Front & Rear suspension unit travel is internally shortened by 2 inches (50mm)
Fork mount height: tube top is flush with triple clamp top
Front springs: 0.42 kg/mm progressive
Fork spring L: 421 mm
Front fork oil: 5W Maxima Racing Fork Fluid (blue)
Front fork level: 87 mm (compressed tube, no spring)
Front fork pre-load: 73 mm (spacer)
Front clickers - Bottom (no top): 11 clicks out
Rear spring: 5.36 kg/mm (desired 5.0 kg/mm, but there was a supply problem or something)
Rear spring L & diam: 9.0 x 2.25 inch
Rear shock oil: Race Tech Ultra Slick light
Rear shock N2 charge: 142 psi
Rear shock pre-load (not race sag): 8mm
Rear shock clicker - Top: 13 clicks out
Rear clicker - Bottom: 14 clicks out
My weight: 150 to 154 lbs (not clothed)
Steering damper: None
