Long time lurker, first time posting... I have questions on my rebuild.

Hello from Oregon, I recently picked up a 1992 kdx 200 for cheap due to the fact it was not running. The previous owner did not take care of the bike at all and im trying to undue some of his backyard engineering.

The issue that I'm tackling now is the exhaust, it has a FMF Fatty however the silencer was a different brand and they slipped it INSIDE the FMF pipe. This obviously led to a build up of carbon/debris at that connection point.

My question is, what are my options? I haven't seen many if any, after market silencers for E series kdx and I'm unsure if a overpriced stock silencer off ebay will fit. I look forward to your responses, this sight has been a tremendous help already.

If it is an E-series FMF pipe then the stock silencer will work with it. I know this for sure as I had that setup on my '90 KDX200. BTW, the factory silencer on the E-series bikes was an awesome and very durable design. I wish the '95+ bikes came with that silencer!

BTW, the US spec '89-'94 KDX silencer looks like the one below and is the one I'm speaking of.

WOW!! SOME PEOPLE!!

Another option was / is FMF. Pro Circuit used to make spark arrestors and silencers, but I don't know if they still do. You might be able to find a used one.

Maybe take the set up you have to a local muffler shop and see if they can make up a small adapter pipe that fits tightly over the silencer inlet,weld/braze it on and have them expand the end it so it fits over the FMF Fatty..

I have a used silencer on the way, supposed to get here today. I'll see if it's as easy as slipping it over the pipe, I doubt with my luck it'll be that easy. That is a good idea Jimmy, I will most likely go that route if this doesn't work.
