Momma warned me there’d be days like these. Actually, it was KDXG. I kept trying to serve 2 masters with the fork height. 27mm has been great in the woods, but got me poor results at the track. This is not the worst of it. I had one endo where the front locked up, not just rubs...black scrapes. Almost went over the bars.

I went back to the stock KX setting of 5mm, and feel a lot safer. Low CR bars and no spacers... so still feels fine. Will have to see how it goes in the woods, next time.
Track setting so far:
8-C / 11-R.
And I finally ordered the 5.2 shock spring.
I realize I am catching up to Doakley $5k KDX faster than I thought.

Did you shorten your forks internally?

One can only pull 'em up so far. (I thought the lime green suspenders was a nice decision on my pic choice)

Very funny! I could use some Kawasaki suspenders.
No I did not do anything to the forks. They are just rebuilt to KX 125 stock specs. I was bottoming them all the way down regularly (using the 27mm spacing) and some softer settings.
I do need to throw the zip ties back on just to see how much of the travel I am using now. Somehow I left them at home last Sunday.

I've joined the 5k club as well. Just rode Foresthill for the second time yesterday with tuned suspension (KLX forks, gold valves all around, higher spring rate shock) and the price is definitely worth the admission. Best money by far I've spent on the bike. I bet a tuned set of KX forks is even better due to the adjustability.

I hit the gnar with the KX forks (still at 5mm MX height setting). Seemed great. 12C / 15R. I think it just took a couple rides so it seems normal.

Build a hybrid, you can easily surpass the $5k club
What year KX125 forks are you running? I'm running 5mm as well on my 2005. I haven't really thought to raise them for better woods handling, I might have to do some experimenting. Leaky fork seals are showing me I have little room to spare!

Im afraid I will make $5k with no hybrid help, thank you very much! But i do have a buddy at work who is a big hybrid fan, and reminds me about it often.
I have 2000 KX125 forks, how about you ?
Since I didn’t do actual measurement before swapping, I keep planning to do the theoretical difference in front end height with some of that super fancy 6th grade geometry.
It is a bit more nimble. Maybe just a little lower. With the forks dropped. But without shortening them internally I did not think it was worth dropping much and having to worry about the fender hitting. I survived the one lockup I caused and don’t need that joy again.
