Hi All, well used to have a 2001 KDX200 but swapped it for FZR1000 basket case ,(mistake of the century). :wah:
but its almost ready to sell on and a "cheap" non running 98 kdx220r came up.

my buddy has a 05-220r and i much prefer the power delivery (grew up ridding trials bikes).
so its missing a bunch of parts but i though best open up the motor and see the depth of what i have got myself into.

It has a neat seat no tears or rips just a bit grubby.

does that look like the OEM :vom: PISTON.
Do o weisco have identifing marks etc ?
the piston looks newish.
and the bore looks ok , no obvious marks. :supz:
the head look like its had something dinging around for a bit but not terminal.
so on the whole a good start.
cheers mark

Its a Wiseco, the part # 750M06900 is stamped on the crown. Thats a standard 69.0 mm piston

So far, so good. I second that it is a Wiseco. Check the bottom end well. When they blow up, sometimes the shrapnel goes down. The stock piston may have been ran to death.

well this is odd ,
i took the cylinder off to check the con rod and piston .
and the con rod /crank seem good no decernable up and down play and very little side to side.
but the cylinder bore measures with a bore gauge bang on 69 mm with a small amount of ovality going to .007mm bigger.
i am sure its meant to be 69.025 to 69.041.
no marks in the bore either.
should i send it out and get it honed into limit.
whats your thoughts .compression was only at 75 but i think the rings were stuck..
the piston was worn to 68.8.
