Hi everyone..
I have a 2000 kdx 220.
I have attached a picture of my wiring diagram.
Can anyone give me the right way to wire a rear brake light which works off both front and rear brakes.
As I am going insane...!
I have taken a power feed from red run it to the front brake light switch which in turn goes to the rear bulb which is earthed / grounded. and the same for the rear brake light switch
Various combinations..
All I succeed in doing is blowing the brake light filament of the bulb.
The front and rear lights which are fed from the same red wire never blow...

Please help me get this project finished ..!!!

If you’re blowing bulbs it sounds like you need a regulator.

Front bulb is fine along with the rear bulb filament.... Its just the brake light filament.
I have tried switching the the regulator... Nothing changes.

What kind of brake switches are you using? The stock wiring doesn't support brake lights, just running lights. The best way is to use hydraulic switches that attach at the master cylinders. You would then need to run the leads from there to a dual filament bulb. You can draw power from the red line. Keep in mind that the stock wiring uses only a regulator, and it really only keeps it below about 14V when really being revved. If trying to street legal it you'd be better off going the full route, floating your grounds and rewiring the stator for more output. Lots of post on here about that route.

Thanks for the response... looking at doing a full DC conversion now, this should solve my problem.
Only thing I am struggling with is sourcing a battery to fit in my airbox..

Doesn't take much, a small LiPo or NiCad will fit. It hink trailtech has one, or baja designs. If you have buddies that run RC vehicles they maybe can build you a custom pack.

See my post on how I did AC>DC conversion for the headlight only so I could run a brake light. I also included links into which brake light switch I used. Works like a champ: viewtopic.php?f=77&t=18134&start=40#p206523 . I'm using an 1157 bulb socket in the oem housing and a mechanical brake light switch (which fits in the oem frame boss).
