Hi folks,
I am the recent purchaser of a 1981 KDX 175. I love this thing!
I am not a racer, but I like to ride fast whilst exploring wilderness areas.
So far I've ridden the desert (Ocotillo Wells) and Sierra Nevada forest trails (around Shaver Lake).
Sometimes takes 10 kicks to start, and neutral can be hard to find, but otherwise runs AMAZING! My favorite toy.
The work I've done so far: The "Hush Puppy" muffler was being held on solely by a silicon sleeve, which I was able to reattach with a few bolts from the hardware store.
Next project: kickstarter is a little floppy, not staying tucked into bike, so I'll be putting a new spring in there.
Other "someday" projects for the bike:
- replace headlamp
- replace petcock (the lever is broken)
- upgrade shocks
Looking forward to learning what I can from this forum. Thank you!
