I ran the 525. It was pretty good but didn't care for it's cornering traction. It lasts pretty good if you're not a tire spinner or lock up the rear to brake kinda rider. My buddy (on a YZ250X) loves it. Hated the 505. It was one of the scariest tires I've ever ridden on nasty downhills. It behaves too much like a trials tire.

I run the 505 on two bikes and I think it's a great tire for rocks. The tire is pretty durable.

I am going to get the Tusk or the Kenda Trakmaster rear when the time comes. Can't beat the prices.

Great for rocks and roots...agree with SS109 the side bite is definitely lacking. For that reason, I pulled it off and replaced it with an IRC Volcanduro VE33S. It’s their version of a sticky tire and it’s a monster. Worth a look. That being said, if I ever go to Moab I will reinstall the Shinko.
