Is there anything i can do to make it give that kick, or am i just on the wrong bike for that, i live in a very desert sandy area with plenty of straight aways and well the kdx just doesn't suprise me, heck i rode a little yamaha blaster and it was more suprising, i mean it is fast but i don't know i come from street bikes which are much faster i don't know if that has to do, and well any dirtbike will feel slow to me, don't get me wrong in fun trails with turns hills and stuff its amazing but with a lot of open trail it just does not excite me, maybe some upgrades? It is 100%stock i just got it all rebuit 2 weeks ago bottom end and top end.

A KDX200 is not the best wide open desert bike. Get a KX500 or KX450 for that.
MAN! Your post is hard to read with the lack of proper punctuation! :-)

A bone stock KDX200 is not a desert sled. That said, you can still get into trouble quickly if its properly tuned and jetted. It's just never going to be a "hair on fire, peeling the skin off your face" ride...unless of course you do catch on fire

You have the wrong bike for wide open stuff. You want fast on the KDX? Ride tight and gnarly singletrack where if you can maintain a 15mph average speed your hauling!

I think the KDX will go pretty good in the desert.
Blaster has 17 HP and weighs over 300 lbs so the KDX should be much faster.
It would be nice if you had a rev pipe on it.
I'd make sure the KDX is geared with stock gearing jetted properly and has a suitable desert tire installed in back.

I ride desert. Anybody on any 250, 300, or 450 can blow by me like I'm sitting still in the open terrain. Yes, the KDX will move in the desert but it just can't stay up with the bigger bikes.

What is your jetting like? Have you got a rev pipe and/or different needle? Done the basic mods?

That is why I love the KDX, pretty linear power band, great for lugging, yet does have a nice boost when you need it (for a 200/220). If you want kick, go for a YZ 250, TC 250, or SX250 and you'll definitely get it.
