KLR 650 or KL
X 650? Because a KLR fork would be generally considered a significant downgrade.

From what I read, the KLX650R forks have compression damping adjustments only. The KLX650 forks are non-adjustable.

KLX should be a bolt-on conversion. You need the whole front end: wheel/clamps/fork.

Not if they are the non-adjustable version

It is an easy conversion -- bolts right up. Worth it would depend on your preference.

Non adjustable? They have compression clicker, but not rebound.

Only the KLX650R has compression adjustment. The KLX650 (street version) is non-adjustable.

I find the stock forks to soft, so if the KLXr forks are stiffer then i guess it would be worth it. Looking down at the top fork caps there is a small adjustment screw on each fork of the KLXr forks so I think they must be adjustable

The clicker is at the bottom of the legs, not top.

Those are air bleed screws.
If you want stiffer, just put the correct springs in them for you weight.

ok so i'm better of with the standard forks but just get them set up for my weight i guess, sounds a lot easier then conversion as I don't have the KLXr front wheel nor caliper

would my caliper fit the KLXr forks? or do I need the wheel and caliper of KLXr?
