I crashed last winter and broke an aluminum foot peg. It is definitely tricky riding with no peg. Hopefully i'll fair a little better Sunday during my race. As allways enjoyed the story.

Be thankful you only did 1 lap there  That dust was insane. (I did 5 laps of that crap after getting a flat rear on the 2nd)

This was a brand new filter WITH a pre filter on it before that race

Yep, that dust was no freakin' joke. I was getting the grit from my teeth and hair for days, and I only did one lap!

Great read as usual! Sorry for the bad luck! I can't believe the footpeg mount broke like that. I want to try to do some of those new east coast races next year (never raced before), reading your stories really makes me wonder what kind of stuff I'm going to run into lol

You will run into all kinds of things. Racing is like that. But if you treat it like a ride in the woods with a lot of friends, it can be quite fun. Guys get hung up with trying to go fast and make all kinds of mistakes and crash. I do it too. But when you've got to run for two hours, you learn to relax a bit and keep a steady pace instead of an insane one.

After having roadraced, as well as stock car racing, I can tell you hare scrambles is about the most accessible and affordable way to go racing. Hell, you've already got the bike and the gear, all you have to do is show up, pay your $35 and find out what you're made of!

so true about pacing yourself, normally when you calm down and and relax you will be quicker anyway.
