Thanks guys. I'm not looking for a cap to the existing spacer. I'm looking for a spacer replacement.

Why? The existing gear housing is already cast and matched to fit that space and protect the seal perfectly. There's no real weight to be saved or anything else with a custom spacer.

Maybe a little too redneck, but I used black silicone to plug the hole and it works great, is not noticeable, and is removable if you decide to put the odometer back on.

I did the same exact thing with the silicone. I stuffed a rag in first then sealed it up. Works great!
