What is the likelihood that the shock shaft from a later model kdx would fit the shock on a c-series? I have a corroded shaft on my 1986 and the piston diameter might be the same I wonder if the shaft might interchange. Any ideas?

I ended up not having a good enough shock to work for you. I will keep an eye out. Try Ebay, I lucked out and got my shock from ebay.

No. You need a 1986 to 1988 shaft. Shocks show up sometimes, so hang in there. 1989 and newer are 44mm bodies are 44 mm, not 40 mm.

After much frustration, I've sent it off to FRP for re-chrome / rebuild. It was just the best way in this situation. Nothing I found was likely to be much better than what I already have. Thanks for the info.
