Is there a way to check if the waterpump is working properly without removing the cover?

Hi Jasper,

I would disconnect the hose pipe coming from the pump toward the top end of the engine, only disconnect the top end of the hose. Start the bike and see if water comes pouring out of the pipe. If you pumps is working you should have water coming out of your hose. ( that is what I on cruisers anyways to check water pump)
But I would still take the cover off and inspect the propeller, its pretty straight forward and you can't really go wrong with it.

Hope that helps,

Kenny.

I would remove the pipe, and the cover. If you're careful, you should be able to reuse the gasket .You may need to use some gasket sealer, but you should be good. Personally I'd rather put eyes on the pump to make sure all is well. All its going to cost you is fresh coolant, and some time. To me it's worth the effort if you're not sure...

Take off the radiator cap and watch for water flow. There's no thermostat in these bikes, so you should get water flow through the radiator if the engine is running.

So this had me thinking I should check mine after my rebuild. I took a video. I don't see any coolant coming out of the top hose. I'm assuming I have a problem here?

Might have air trapped in the system.

Are you talking about the hose in the filler neck? That is the overflow, no coolant should be coming from there.

Ok good to know, I believe everything is operating as normal. Thanks!
