Does the length of tubing on a silencer effect tuned length?

I'm almost to the point of modding my silencer to fit my rmz frame but id like to keep the silencer under the number plate and have a more fitted look to it as a whole.

My question is if I shorten the tubing going to my silencer will it effect the power of the motor?

Yes, no, or maybe. Maybe for the better. Maybe worse.

Stinger length is often part of overall pipe tuning, but is considered one of the more minor of the variables, and generally only affects the extreme top-end of the power range (which is not generally seen as hugely important in dirtbikes).

I guess I'll try it and see if it changes anything I could always weld it back in

Yes, and by a large degree.
Shorter will give more low RPM power and less over-rev. Longer will take away low rpm and add high rpm power. Take your choice. I prefer shorties.

Thanks for responding. The modded silencer has been working well. I haven't rode a stock kdx200 in a really long time so I'm for of the difference.
