just started riding again after 15 yrs off.. my son suggested that we get dirt bikes to spend more time together i bought an 03kdx 220 .i have already done the suspension over .changed pipe and silencer ,reeds,handlebars, front sprocket,next is the rb designs carb mod (sounds like everyone is happy with it) my 9 yr old has a pw80 it took 2 hrs before i had to remove the exhaust flange...

Welcome to the site Tom! Sounds like you've got a pretty good start on getting your KDX in top shape. You'll find lots of good info about the RB carb mod here and everything else you might want to know about your KDX. Start reading and asking questions. You'll be suprised at what the KDX can do when you get it worked over.

You're familiar with the 220 piston horror stories? Well, not stories, but related facts of the matter?

Note the 220 head is consistently inconsistent. If you're sending your carbie in, might as well throw the head in, too!

i have only changed air cooled pistons ,how is the 220 piston change fairly simple, yes i have a manual.. only question i would have is the kips is wiseco pistons still good?? thank you guys this site is full of excellent info..

Wiseco is the only choice for a 220 owner. Pro-X just sells OEM pistons which grenade like the stockers.
