Popped the top end off my E series tonight to swap in the new steel valves, and found one of them was broken right in half.

It was the right valve(the one paired with the idler gear)

The steel valves installed and are GREAT and they fit fantastically. Minor drawback was that they labelled the right valve as the left and vice-versa...no biggy, but they fit very well and align perfectly with the sub-exhaust ports

Could you tell the power had fallen off before dissasembling ?

I'm not familiar with the E models , are the stock valves aluminum ?

Hardly! It still had pretty considerable power throughout the revs. Maybe a little less on top, but wouldn't have expected to find a valve snapped like that....No carbon seizure, I guess combined with them being cast aluminum base material with engine vibration gets to them after a while.

Im planning on checking mine this winter bike runs great but does seem to have a little less top end

can't wait to get a set of those! Ill be rebuilding my whole motor at the same time I drop a set of steel valves in, I have a feeling mine are about to go pretty soon

The first time I put in new stock valves this past January, BOTH of mine were snapped in half like that. If you are very familiar with the power delivery of the KDX you will notice a difference. When I replaced those with the steel valves this June, the left stock one had already snapped in half.

I have about 60 hours on the new steel valves and they are working well. I plan on cleaning and inspecting them in the next couple weeks.
