I recently bought an old KDX250 from someone for a pretty awesome deal. After going out for my first ride on it, and further inspection, the exhaust is in worse shape than I thought. There is a hole in one of the expansion chambers from one of the engine mounting bolts puncturing it, and there are a few spots that have been flattened pretty decently. I've been searching on eBay for a replacement without much luck, and I haven't been able to find any manufacturers that make an aftermarket exhaust for this year. I was wondering if there might be another model/year that I could use the exhaust from, or if I should attempt to repair the exhaust myself. I am a proficient welder, and thought I might be able to pull the flat spots out and patch the hole. Any suggestions on how to tackle this would be appreciated.

You may want to check with frpoffroad.com. Maybe he has one.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jason. I found a listing for replacement headpipes made by Akrapovik that may fit my bike, but they're a bit spendy. I sent them an e-mail to make sure they would in fact fit, but I would rather find something cheaper. Hell, the price they're asking is over half what I paid for the bike itself!

What country are you in?? You don't have your location filled in. That helps when people are trying to answer your questions, as some products/tips are only for some countries.
I have never heard of Akrapovic making a KDX exhaust.

I'm located in Portland, Oregon.
You're right, Akrapovic does not make an exhaust for this year bike. The website had one listed when I was searching by fitment for my bike, though.
