boring question for kdx vintage masters

Hello, I am trying to understand something simple, wanting to learn though and hoping you guys take it easy on me, somewhat. I have a 81 Kdx 175, the cylinder has the electroplating. If you can't bore the electroplated cylinder, is there just a rough bore that enlarges the cylinder for the sleeve? Can a new sleeve be bored more than once? Is the stock bore size the way the sleeve is manufactured? I will be using the 82 tri-port cylinder that helps give 3 more horse. I think the standard bore is 66mm, which is where I think I wanna be, i am looking to build a dependable motor not a racer, maybe later though.... we'll talk!
I would like to hear ideas as to how you would set that up, if you were me, because most people wouldn't be wasting money on a Kdx 175 themselves.
I will be posting some pictures when I get started.

it is not true that you can not bore a plated cylinder, the catch however is that you need to replate it after boring
a quick ebay search shows stock bore to be 66 MM and a 67 MM piston kit to be readily available

for comparision
I had a KDX 200 bored and replated over at langcourt for about 350 dollars, new wiseco top end kit included

If it were me, I would have the stock cylinder replated. (Langcourt, Millenium, etc.)

Where did you hear that a 1982 cylinder gives it 3 more horsepower?

At some point in time, I will have some 1981 and 1982 KDX175 parts for sale. I bought a couple of them a few years ago and afterwards decided not to rebuild them.

I read the horsepower thing on cyclopedia I believe. It was a combination of tri-port cylinder, ovalbore carburetor and something I forget now, just the adjustments Kawasaki made for the 82.
I started cleaning the motor with mineral spirits thinking I could just wash out the motor tonight because it had had some water in it one time or another but spirits and rust was coming through the statorside crank seal. Some rusty patches on the crank, rolls just fine. Was hoping to just clean It up and use some new rings and a new standard piston for now. 81 cylinder has pits so just replating it wouldn't be right. Was just gonna run it for a while. From what I understand about 2 strokes, you can't have any air leaks. If I am wrong, someone please let me know. Unless I hear otherwise I guess I will be splitting my first case and may consider sleeve with a larger bore, if anyone has anymore suggestions, I will consider them. I plan to call langcourt and some places that install sleeves to get an education when I have time. Deep down I figured it would need new bearings. Also remember something about bigger connecting rod ends, maybe an update on the 82 as well, so more looking and talking. May have to check with some of the old Kawasaki men in the area. I will keep the spare parts in mind, although I am probably going to need every part before I'm through. Gonna check for any worn out bearings in the suspension before I get to gung-ho. They all seem tight but got to see them to be sure. I have read some of them are unavailable. Thanks, checkyalater guys.
