Hi everyone. I have been lurking for awhile here. I've been riding off-road for going on just 4 yrs now. I own a 2003 Klr 650. It has all the goodies, suspension, guards, engine mods, etc. it's just a dual sport, but I take it places a dual sport shouldn't be lol.

Recently I was introduced to woods riding using an extra Suzuki RMX 250 2 stroke a friend has. I'm addicted now to 2 strokes! My friends suggested I find a decent KDX to ride.
200 vs 220. Lots of 200's for sale and 220's in good shape are rare. So if I were to settle for a 200, would I regret it? I'm 6'4" and 225 lbs. Would a 200 be enough for a novice woods rider? RB mods help it out? Definitely jeff fedettes suspension with gold valves too.
I'm just worried I'd regret not getting the 220. I've got all winter to look for a bike. What would you do?

im 4 inches shorter then you and the 200 does perfect for me
from what I understand the main difference between whether you want a 200 or a 220 is the terrain you ride
the 220 doesn't necessarily have more power then the 200, but it has a different power curve

the long and short of it is the 220 has lots of low end grunt but runs out of steam on top (think of a tractor)
the 200 doesn't lug along like the 200 but breathes better on top

the one thing to really consider is where the 200 is bullet proof the 220 has a piston that likes to explode so if you do decide to go with a 220 either get one with proof of a recent top end job or be prepared to do one yourself

220 with 200 carb. Alot of people are gonna tell you 200 but haven't owned both. I had a 200, then a 220. Def like the 220 better.

I've got 2- 200 am 6'1 86kg we didn't get the 220 in Australia a few mods and it will do what ever you want it to do just jet it right and good oil good quality fuel and ride and enjoy the KDX

I definitely need the torque of the 220 then due to where I would go to ride.

I got a 220 with a PC pipe and love it, lugs down low, yet comes on the pipe like a good 2 stroke should! I have not ridden a 200, but with a quick toe,my 220 flys when the trail opens up, great bike!
