Hi All.
I'm new to this forum & will hopefully shortly restart my love of KDX's.
I had a 1981 KDX175-A2 when I was a good bit younger (in 1984) & it was brilliant. everyone else on trailies in our town had DT's at the time except me & another lad in town who had a PE250...he sort of stood out as he could wheelie his the length of the high street, I could not.

Any way as I said i'm hoping to get another aircooled KDX soon, I've been on the look out for a 175 but they seem a bit scarce but I have spotted 200 that might get my £'s as soon as I free some up from a bike i'm selling.

Welcome! Good to have ya. I'm not sure what parts for the aircooled bikes are like over the pond, but they're getting pretty scarce here. We hardly saw any of the 175's, so they are especially difficult. I wish you the best of luck in your search!

is the 200 you have seen on ebay? very tidy looking 87 aircooled one on there, but seems to have recently sold.

Yep. got that one spotted, it's a fair way from here but might be ok if the price is right looks like I've liberated some funds as well so fingers crossed.

lol, you live in the country roughly the size of Ohio
i'd imagine distance shouldnt keep you from getting the bike you want

yeah, you pay a liter what we pay a gallon

on the other hand, most of then engine you guys put in cars we would consider to small to mount in a lawnmower so your vauxhaul should get a little bit better gasmilage then my dodge

and you can forget about tying it to the roof

you cant even put it in the passenger seat because some dummy mounted the steering wheel there


looks to me like you just might need to take the trolley there and ride the bike back ;)

who says you can't take the scenic route?
take the trolley up there on friday, ride it for 30 miles and part it near a pub.
drink, rinse and repeat.
then on saturday find yourself some eggs and scones (or whatever it is you lot eat for breakfast) and put 60 miles on it
park it near a pub drink rinse and repeat, you oughta be back home by sundayevening in time for mass ;)


in all seriousness though, i understand your perdicament, but you shouldnt let a few hundred miles keep you from a bike you really want
i've once pulled one in from toledo ohio in the back of a 7 passenger van
wasnt even my van...and you HAVE a van mate

now quite your stalling and go fetch yourself that bike


(oh, one more thing, a 15/47 sprocket combo makes that bike very doable at highway speeds )

Need to win the auction first or the owner might be a bit miffed if I turn up & take it.

i doubt they know the young ones here, that type of comedy kinda goes over the heads of most yanks
i guess you could say we're on different busses...but we're both using petrol

Clocks counting down on the KDX & its currently standing at 464 of our comedy £, reserve not met.
I have one of those nagging thoughts that this is going to go for mental money, not really sure how much I'm prepared to pay yet but I reckon auction fever will get the better of me.
Just in case I got some quotes to have it delivered....£85 so far but been dropping quickly. when I stack up the fuel & missed weekend pub time it kind of makes sense
