Picking up 2002 KDX 200 tomorow so that I can chase my son around on his KX 250. Haven't ridden for 35 years (50year old). So thought KDX was better option for starting than KX. Going to be trail riding only, way to old for mx. Bike has pro circuit pipe and few other other mods picked up for $1800 ($2100 us) appears to be in pretty good nick for age. Just got out of hospital from having appendix out, better take it easy cant really afford to end up there again from crash fall etc. There's no fool like an old fool.

Welcome, Mike! Congrats on your purchase, and speedy recovery on your surgery. The KDX is a great bike, that can be improved even more as your skills progress. A perfect choice!

Thanks guy's I am in Palmerston North which is central North Island. By the way update on the bike is now 2005 model. Traveled 41/2 hours to pick up 2002, wasn't as tidy as I had been led to believe and had bad whine in second gear so told guy $1800 would be staying in pocket. decided to travel another 4 hours to look at 2005 model that was supposed to be mint for $3300 (ok this is way dearer but $1800 bike could quickly turn into $$$ and still be piece sh.t. Thank God was worth the trip bike like new and pulled like a beast, really impressed could not compare two bikes (talked the guy down from $3300) agreed $2800. Well another 31/2 hours to get home turned into a long day (left 9.30 am got home at 10.30pm) no regrets way happy with bike should see me out. only mod I can see happening is heavier front springs for my 100kg mature frame (bike already has PC Plat 2 pipe). Cheers all, love the forum.
