Me and a friend on an XR250 went to Red River, NM last weekend and we're planning another trip in the near future before it gets too cold. It's an easy drive for us- 2 hrs- and we'll probably do it as a day trip. There are kids along (XR80 and quad) and the speed is "leisurely", punctuated by moments of speed. Being that he owns an RV park and I'm rancher (thus, no 9-5), we like to ride on Weds/Thurs/Fri, but a Saturday ride is possible. I co-pastor a small church here, and Sunday's out.

Elevation is 8000' and up. Temps are cool- 60/70's. Riding is mostly rugged jeep trails with some singletrack. I like the jeep trails- lots of good water barriers to jump!

Anyway, if anyone wants to be informed about upcoming rides, let me know. There's a lot to Red River that I haven't explored yet....

How far away are you from Phoenix, Arizona. I live just south of Phoenix.

I used to work in different parts of New Mexico, it's a beautiful place.

According to MS Streets and Maps: 757 miles. It'll be a bit more than a day trip for you.

I'm in the NE corner, right near the Colorado/Oklahoma/Texas border, clear across the state from Farmington. 250-ish miles from Albuq.

I have an uncle and aunt in Winslow and drove from Phoenix to Winslow via Payson. That's COOL looking country.

Yes, that would be a bit of a drive. Maybe more than a one day trip

I worked in Silver City, Reserve and Magdalina (spelling) Kind of opposite end of the state from you.

Payson is beautiful. We ride in that area during the summer. Its a nice place to beat the heat.
