HERE IS THE STORY.
I WAS SEARCHING CRAIGSLIST WHEN I CAME ACROSS THIS PEARL A 1989 KDX 200E HALF BURRIED IN SNOW NEVEREVEN CLEAND OFF FOR THE PIC THE ADD READ 89 KDX 200 RAN 2 YEARS AGO NO COMPRESSION 500 NEG. SO I WENT AND CHECKED IT OUT.
AFTER PULLING UP TO AN OLD FARM HOUSE ON THE EASTEND OF LONG ISLAND THE BIKE WAS EXACTLY LIKE I EXPECTED STILL SITTING IN THE SNOW TIRES DRY ROTTED CHAIN RUSTED, BENT BARS AND LIKE THE ADD SAID NO COMPRESSION. AFTER INQUIRING ALLITTLE MORE ON WHAT HAPPEND PRIOR TO MOTOR FAILURE I FOUND OUT THAT THE GUY RAN STAIT GAS AS IF IT WAS A FOUR STROKE SO I OFFERED 200 FOR THE BIKE NOT KNOW ING HOW BAD THE INTERNAL DAMAGE REALLY WAS 15 MINUTES LATER I WAS LOADING IT UP AND TOOK IT HOME ..
THE NEXT DAY I PULLED THE HEAD OFF HOPING TO JUST REPLACE THE PISTON AND RINGS BUT THAT WASNT HAPPENING THE RINGS MELTED TO THE PISTON SCORED THE CYLINDER WALL AND MELTED THE REED CASE AND AND AND KIPPS COVERS AS WELL AS SHREDDED THE THE KIPPS GEARS.. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FAOUND OUT THE THE 95 HEAD HAD UPGRADED THE KIPPS VALVE CONFIGURATION AND PRODUCED SLIGHTLY MORE HORSE POWER SO I BEGAN SEARCHING LOOKING FOR DETAILS ABOUT THIS MOD AND FOUND NONE BUT FIGURED I WOULD ATTEMPT IT ANY WAY.
I GOT A CLEAN 95 HEAD OFF EBAY PURCHASED 95 TOP AND GASKET AND PISTON SET AND DROPPED IT ON I WAS SO HAPPY IS SLID RIGHT ON UNTIL I RELIZED THE KIPS ACTUATER SHAFT DIDN'T LINE UP SO AFETER COMPARING PARTS DIAGRAMS THIS IS WHAT I CAME UP WITH
THINGS I NEEDED
95 HEAD JUG
95 HEAD
95 SPARK PLUG
95 INNER CLUTCH COVER
OUTER CLUTCH COVER AND GASKETS
WATER PUMP SHAFT AND PROP ALONG WITH COVER
VERTEX B SIZE PISTON AND RINGS FOR 95
TOP END GASKET KIT AND 2 SMALL WASHERS TO EXTEND THE CLUTCH PUSH PIN SO IT CAN REACH THE INNER CLUTCH LEVER
IN THE END
I ALSO REPLACED THE THROTTLE TUBE
CHAIN
TIRES SOME RENTHAL BARS AND A NEW HEAD LIGHT
3 WEEKS LATER IT RUNS GREAT SAVE A TWO STROKE!!!!!!!

darn sure fits. I never figured that kips area at the front of the jugg would clear the downtube. Did you have to alter any motor mounts or anything?

no it deffinity was tight but it slid right on the biggest problem was once i had it on the kipps actuater arm was on the wronge angles so i replaced the inner cover ,actuater arm, outer cover and water pump assembly

Yeah no problem! I looked into doing this swap back when I had my E series cylinder re-plated and all. The powervalves on the E series have plagued me with issues. However, since repairing another cylinder and installing it, I have not had another power valve failure, so that's good. Sometime in the future I might look into this swap though. Maybe start collecting parts on ebay!

Thanks for sharing!!

I found some Cragslist gold last weekend when a fellow posted "KDX parts" that included an almost complete H series motor. The only missing bits were the stator, clutch assembly, pv governor, and the toothed gear thingee that mounts atop the pv actuator shaft. Oh, and it spun its transmission output shaft bearing. The top end is perfect. The crank and main/small/big end bearings are perfect. The transmission and related parts are fine. The cases escaped any damage from the bearing parts rolling around in the tranny. $100. :)))

Sadly, a new toothed gear thingee for the pv actuator shaft, at $72, almost doubles my outlay for this conversion, but hey--I'm not complaining! I might just rebuild the whole motor and drop it into the hybrid when my left side sub valve goes. Probably just a matter of time.
