Fair enough. I'm on the east coast (NC) and was hoping you were closer. I've seen all your posts on the starter and the link. I can't see how the link gets me anywhere I can order. Just trying to solve the ordering problem. Could you perhaps give me tehe proxy you used to order, name of the company or individual that makes this kit, etc. Any contacts or anything that will help me order. Failing that I'd like as much detail as possible that might allow me to put together a similar kit myself. Right now you are the only person I know who actually has one of these.
Thanks,
Doug

Yeah, they are the only game in town when it comes to e-start for the KDX right now.

Even though I'm sourcing a lot of the complex parts from existing bikes there is still four pieces that either need to be machined, cast, molded, or a combination of, to make it happen. If I only had a mill and lathe I would already have it up and running!

If we could just find a way to get in touch with the guy who made this, I’d order several. I’d be willing to import these as a US dealer.

All of my links from when I ordered it are dead. Dimas Auto Electrical Brotas(Dimas Auto Elétrica Brotas) 14 3653-5300 - I think this is the manufacturer though.

I’ll see if I can reach them. That’s in Brazil, right?

Hey, guychriqui. Thanks for the info but that number appears not to be working. Can you find anything else on the packaging, invoice, packing slip, anything at all that might help me track down the source of this kit?

Do you think Pantera motorsports would be interested in seeing if they could adapt a KX500 one to fit our bikes?

Nothing of note in the slightest sadly.

All of this talk has gotten me back on this project. I'm pushing to get it all sorted and get the pieces made that I need to complete it. I'm sorry I hadn't been steadily working on this as I know it's a worthwhile project

Funny you should ask. I have been in conversation with them on exactly that subject. The Panthera design appears far superior to the Brazilian version to me. They ARE willing to develop a kit for the KDX, or at least look at the feasibility. They need a bike to work with to do the design work. I was wondering if we have any members in the Montreal area that would be willing to loan them a "late" model 200 or 220 for design purposes. If they were closer to me in North Carolina I would be happy to use mine.
Got any takers who want to help move this forward?

Tyl3r & doakley,
good question and good ideas. If I were based in Canada, then I'd deliver or ship a KDX to Panther for this purpose. Getting the vehicle across the border from the South is a PITA. It'd be wonderful to have Panther at least examine a late model KDX to see if it is even feasible. Like doakley suggested, maybe some Canada forum members can help. Here's 3 within CAN, two of which are pretty close to Montreal. The 3rd is a KDX die hard (below).

KrispyKDX is located in Montreal or immediate area
l2f is located in ste-julie approx. 30 km (18 mi) to northeast of Montreal
Slick Nick is located in Calgary approx. 3500 km (2200 mi) west of Montreal

One thing to note, the Panther kit for KX 500 runs $1,650.00 USD to $2,125.00 USD. That's quite a lot. Even for the Yamaha YZ125, Panther starts ranges from $1,160.00 USD to $1,825.00 USD.

SS109, How about an update on the electric start for the KDX? I am sure there are a lot of people that are waiting on this. Not to be pushy, but this is a subject that is very intriguing to me and I'm sure lots of other people. Hope you are able to make some to sell reasonably. Look forward to hearing from you.

I apologize for lack of updates. Work has come to a halt at the moment because my KDX is down. So, getting a bike running is kind of top of my list for the moment.

Anyway, I've had issues with getting the bolt circle on the adapter to mount the sprag done accurately which is what is holding me up. I'm going to have to purchase a dividing head so I can get this done right. After I get my bike up that's what I'll be doing to get this project back on track.
