bummer if they ruin the simplicity of a 2stroke motor and make it too complicated for a common guy with common tools to work on.

Hopefully someone comes out with quality kits to simplify/override/delete the unnecessary emissions stuff.

Instead of a half electronic half combustion bike, I might just go the full e-moto path.

And the cost and maintenance advantage is now gone. It's sounds really interesting but I'll believe it when I see it. Fuel injected for sure, maybe direct injection like the emission friendly rotax/ski-doo two strokes, but everything else just adds more complexity and cost that I don't think the consumer would buy into IMHO. But I'm certainly interested to see what they do!

I think the forced induction stuff may be for a street bike but maybe I'm wrong. As big as Kawi is, they would probably have to do something like that if they're gonna put a 2 stroke on the road but not sure about offroad bikes. I think the only reason the Euro guys can still bring a road legal 2T to the states is because of volume but I'm no expert on this stuff.

Well.... Perhaps it will be called a KDX300R, if the name KX300X is already taken by a 4-stroke????
Unless, since it's reportedly a 327cc counterbalanced 2-stroke, they call it the KX330X or KX350X?

Is the KX300X replacing the KX250X? Or is it a more serious woods bike vs the KX250X being a GNCC type enduro race bike, & the KLX300 being basically an entry level hefty full size trail bike 4-stroke woods tractor?
With a headlight, I'd imagine it's meant to be a more serious woods / enduro bike with more torque and smoother power delivery than a 250 enduro race oriented 4-stroke.

The social media comments on FB & the 'gram are a long barrage of demands for a 300cc 2-stroke

It's interesting that while 350cc is typically the in-between 4-stroke size, at least with KTM/Husqvarna/Gas Gas, & 390cc with Beta, that Kawasaki gas released a 300cc 4-stroke woods bike. Honda I believe aldo has a 300cc 4-stroke CRF dual sport or woods bike, however...

Honda seems, historically, the least concerned out of the Japanese big 4 to give any R&D or market share to the 2-stroke efforts, however.

Upon deeper inspection, none of the Kawasaki websites, even both of the European websites, show a KX300X model.... Yet...?

From doing a bit of deeper searching, I see some references to some bikes badged as KX300X that are done AFTER leaving the Kawasaki factory, using an Athena big bore kit... So perhaps that is what is pictured here. Unfortunately AS3 Performance gave no context or further information / clarification in their post!

EDIT -
Ahhhh...
I saw the KL Service logo on the shroud graphics, which made searching a lot easier. Apparently these are a European-only offering that is modified by Kawasaki's European Union importer, KL Service, by adding full lighting, license plate holder, and the Athena 300 Big bore kit, and I believe then sold through Kawasaki dealers.

This would be similar to conversion of the road legal Australian KDX200J models, where they never received the road legal KDX220SR, but instead, sold official Kawasaki "KDX200H" models which were modified upon arriving in Australia to be KDX200J road legal premix two strokes I believe, with brake light tail light turn signals headlight horn battery etc, but not being an oil injection fully Japanese built stock KDX220SR street legal model, instead, modified after exporting out of Japan, in the destination country, prior to arrival at the dealerships...

KL made some cool conversions around 15 or 20 years ago with the two strokes. Look those up if you can find them.
