Re: Panthera E-Start Photos.
It just seems crazy to me that my flywheel & coils are going to be running in oil now.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

It will actually help protect the stator from corrosion and overheating. Most 4T motorcycles have been doing it forever.

I feel a lot better about pouring the 300ml of ATF in the coil cover after knowing this. Thanks.SS109 wrote: 01:35 pm Oct 26 2024 It will actually help protect the stator from corrosion and overheating. Most 4T motorcycles have been doing it forever.

Side benefit, wait until the first time you pull it back apart and see how clean everything is from running the ATF. It has detergents in it that help keep it that way.Molly's 70 wrote: 02:35 pm Oct 26 2024I feel a lot better about pouring the 300ml of ATF in the coil cover after knowing this. Thanks.

Molly's: your notes & photos about how to assure the main gear freely spins is interesting. Greatly appreciate the photos with view parallel to bike's left side. Added width is on many of our minds. Looks acceptable.

Loving the progress pics and details photos of the install. Interesting that Panthera calls for ATF in the case! Now you have two "wet" crank seals. As SS already said, four strokes have been doing that for quite some time. I've had to do multiple stator replacements on my 2005 Speed Triple (don't worry, it's healthy now) and always had to tip the bike over toward the right side to keep the oil in the sump from pouring out.

Anybody notice how plush Molly's workshop is? Not many of us have carpet and easy chair in our shop or garage. I

Got the rest of this buttoned up. I get the battery charger tomorrow. Both the battery & charger were about $100 each.

Battery is all charged up. I have two connectors the wiring diagram says go to the lighting coil. Is this for a SR KDX model?

Re: Panthera E-Start Photos.
Is it talking about the lighting coil on the stator plate?

What other wiring options do they show?

Re: Panthera E-Start Photos.
I believe thAt would apply if you have done the lighting mod where you float the ground on the lighting circuit to allow for battery charging and running your lights off the KDX coil. If you're running a total loss setup you just ignore it.

Re: Panthera E-Start Photos.
Shouldn't there be a regulator in this circuit too? Circuits like this that I'm familiar with use a regulator/rectifier so the AC coming off the lighting coil is rectified to DC to charge the battery, and the regulator controls the charging rate and prevents over-charging.Molly's 70 wrote: 03:09 am Oct 29 2024 Battery is all charged up. Re: Panthera E-Start Photos.
Pumpguy: answer to your question is "no" because Molly will run a total loss system (e.g., no on-board battery charging)

Re: Panthera E-Start Photos.
Molly, I'm thinking like Kelly (SS109). What other wiring options do they show? 1 of the 2 plugs has a wire pair that is red and yellow. But, I do not see this plug pairing in the wiring diagram that you shared. The diagram does show the yellow & yellow plug pairing going to/from the lighting coil (like you asked about).

This is the only wiring diagram supplied.

Re: Panthera E-Start Photos.
I hooked up the battery. Pushed the button & I heard the solenoid click. Pushed again click. Pushed again & the starter came to life.
"edit" (I have to tell on myself, I found the larger positive wire loose on the solenoid). I tightened it up.
Starter ran faster & faster after a few more pushes of the button. In fact, it spins the engine over like a Boss! I thought I had more compression than 160. RB head.
This is a total loss system. I hope some electrical gurus here can figure out the 2 plugs. I clearly don't need them, but hey, I'd try to use them if I knew what I was doing.
