I'll actually be down that way next Friday... got to do a little general maintenance to the KDX...
I'm not part of STER but if you feel like passing along the info to places to ride, I'm all ears.

Yo yo Kawie & Dan46N2... I'm new to the forum and recently re-united with a KDX. I'm also from the area (Ithaca) and looking for riding buddies and places to ride for next season. If you guys want to plan a few rides shoot me a PM anytime!

Welcome, billdgato!
We're certainly lacking on the availability of places to ride in the area but if something comes up locally I'll shoot you a PM.
Any thoughts regarding doing some hare scrambles next season?
I was going to attempt to try my hand at it next season. That, and I was going to try to use the KDX for a few dual-sports once I set it up for road-worthyness (signals, brake light, horn) and a VT plate since NY is particular about what gets plated...

I'd be happy to host a ride up in Canada for you all if interested. I'm about 2 hours northish of Ogdensburg. Check out some trails on youtube under Calabogie boogie or Wood's wonderland

I know I've heard of the Calabogie Boogie... probably read about it on ADV.

Calabogie Boogie sounds good for a serious long weekend trip w/ camping and the whole bit. Definitely keep me on the invite list if anyone decides to organize a regional event.
dan, i'd be more inclined to do a a few dual sports or enduros in the trail class. I picked up my current KDX from a guy in New Hampshire who had it plated with a full street title. Bought it specifically for that reason, so I could do a few dual sports, enduros (where there are road sections) and basically to be able to connect trails wherever I got a chance to ride.
Let me know when you get yours set up.

I'm from Bath, NY (Southern Tier).
I started a dual sport riding club in 2010. We have monthly rides. Some are strictly on our trail system. Check it all out on the website:

Thanks, I have put a ton of work into the club along with a few other members. It has grown bigger than I ever imagined when I started. We love to have you join up and see what we have to offer.

Bear Creek Sportsman are having their 14th Annual Quarry Run DualSport in July 2012. It's a 2 Day Event with approx. 100 miles of mostly Trail with some Asphalt Riding needed to connect the Numerous Acres of Land utilized for the DS.This will be my 4th Year doing it and it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! You can ride 1 Day or Both Days. Your bike needs to be Insured & registered with a minimum of an ATV. You need a MC License or minimum a MC Permit. They provide Lunch on Day 1 & Dinner on Day 2. It's posted on their site and is an Event you should not miss

Are you sure about that? Can you cite a source?
I've never heard of a "Dual Sport" event allowing anything less than a "street-registered" bike.
ATV Plates don't count as "street-registered".
I couldn't find anything on the BCS website stating the above.
Kuggamugga was awesome as usual.
My buddy with the CRF hated the difficult loop and was cursing me and the trail by the 3rd mile (of 15).
He can't wait to go back, but said he won't try that loop again.

Guessin you mean the buffer? Haven't been in there in a few years, was told the fines are pretty steep now. Ride private prop at my place all the time, daughters boyfriend runs an exc200 in gncc he's been cutting a lot of new singletrack this year. Fun stuff just not on an xr650 hence the rebuild on my old kdx.
