I would agree with that statement when the first E series Dynas were shipped. However, after we got it all figured out and corrected (incorrectly machined steels) it was a breeze to install and works great. If people are having problems then it is either an incorrect installion problem or something wrong with the bike.

Do most people have zero issues when installing a Dyna Ring on a KDX? Not sure I want to go through what sped is going through.

To be honest, if it weren't for this one little hangup near the end, the install really is pretty quick. I could do the whole thing in 30 minutes or less if nothing went wrong. (And probably blindfolded too by now.)

Had no problem what so ever installing it in the 02 - 220. Unfortunately haven't been able to ride more than a hour since.

Mine went in very well. Only problems (if you want to call them that) was the adjustment after install. I was concentrating on the how it acts when engine was off. But after talking with Revloc, I concentrated on how it acted when the engine was running. This has been the best mod I have ever done to my bike (I ride tight woods).
Good Luck!

Got my first good test ride in today. I've adjusted the cable as loose as I could & this sucker still slips too much. And I mean at upper rpm's. After reading much advice here, I went with only 2 screws/springs in the Dyna Ring so that it would engage sooner & that's working. It just never seems to fully grab untill the motor is screaming. So my new problem is in the Dyna Ring itself. Or I don't have enough cable.
Time to shoot another email to Revloc.
I'll have to search the forum, but I seem to recall reaading where someone had removed the tiny springs behind the two screws in the D Ring? What does that do?

This may just be the nature of the 'Ring. I also would like mine to lock fully at lower rpm and stay locked up as I roll into the throttle, but the lock up seems more progressive over a wide rpm range. Mine also doesn't feel fully locked up until pretty high rpm when I'm really laying into the throttle.

It really favors an aggressive riding style. Has changed the way I ride.
60 Miles In

I finally got a chance to get in 60 miles of riding yesterday with the ring. I consider myself a beginner although I rode when I was much younger. These days I rarely go beyond 3rd gear and prefer to enjoy "riding the trail" as I call it. With that being said, I like pulling the front end up every chance I get and the clutch definitely didn't effect my ability to do so. 1st, 2nd & 3rd no problem what so ever. I think I may need to increase the idle speed since it did not idle very well in gear? I may also invest in a new clutch level to allow easy minor adjustments while on the trail. I stayed with the 2 screw setup. I do think you have to stay at a little higher rpm to keep it fully engaged however, that's just a miner adjustment in riding technique.
P.S. Still loving my HYBRID!

Sort of glad to hear I'm not alone. Here's the response I got from emailing Revloc.
Sorry to read about your troubles. Not the first time and not the last one , aftermarket items can be a touchy widget.
We are on your side 100% and we can get you thru this .
The problem still lies in the assy. somehow-- We do this every day and it becomes "normal" for us. Its mental mechanical after a while, and forget some details at times.
I suspect the pressure plate is the culprit, and feel free to call my celll asap to talk more thorough on this.
I'll let you guys know any further info as I get it.

Any update Sped?
I am on the fence with the Dyna Ring.

After speaking with Dave at Revloc, and fully explaining my experience, the only thing left to do is take it apart again & make darn sure the pressure plate is lining up with the inner hub 100% correctly. That & he suggested a sprocket change might help favorably.
(I'm running the stock 13/47 atm. I didn't quite like the tight 13/50 combo I was running before the DR install, but neither do I like the 13/47. Think I'll try 12/47 which might be just a tad lower than the 13/50?)
I'll give it some more time, another test ride or two, & see how it goes. Could be a few weeks before I have anything definitive to report.

As for the gear ratios:
Stock 13/47 = 3.61 to 1
12/47 = 3.91 to 1
13/50 = 3.84 to 1
So the 13/50 will not be quite as deep as the 12/47 that you already tried, but will be deeper than the stock 13/47 gearing by quite a bit.
Hope this helps.

I decided to keep the 13/47 gearing since I can't stand the constant shifting required with 13/50. Adjusted, adjusted, adjusted the cable tension. Here's the result:

I had a blast of a ride, but still wishing the DynaRing would fully engage sooner. Can you guys please watch/listen to this & tell me if I should OR shouldn't expect anything more?
So far, my affair with the DR is a love/hate relationship. I love it in tight, gnarly, first gear type stuff... & the anti-stall factor when jabbing the rear brake... but not digging it so much when instant acceleration is desired. Sometimes I just want to whack the throttle & have it go without all of the slip.
Still, the DR grew on me a bit this last ride. I'll keep testing.

Sounds like mine does. It works good but I also wish that it would lock up earlier and harder. I wish there was some way to adjust it to make that happen but I don't know what we can really do. Maybe lighter springs?

Lighter springs sounds like a reasonable idea & cheap to try. Anyone have a source?

The spring is a rather unique looking one as it is not a typical coiled one. I don't know where to find something that would work in it's place. I think I'm going to contact Alan at Revloc and see what he says.
