fuzzy, I agree about the explaining thing, and who knows maybe I offended him when I asked if he would take apart the kips to clean it? His answer may have been very well hidden sarcasm? Your bore diameter stuff makes sense too, which is probably why he said to just use a standard size piston.
CC, I am going to follow your advice and not file the rings. It makes sense since if anything, the bore is ever so slightly bigger than stock. I'll check the ring gap before installation. Question: where in the bore should I check ring gap? I think I read somewhere about 16mm up from the bottom? That is the bottom of the smokehole right?
If he didn't take the kips apart, then like you said it will be a good oppotunity for me to get my hands greasy and learn something.
