Hey. I just remembered that I told the ol' man that Labor Day could be just the men only. It used to be just him....now, he's got me and I don't think the wifee should ALWAYS be there. We will see what happens.

I have heard that they shut LBL down depending on the weather situation. I would be more apt to do LBL but have heard great things about H&M. If I was to go it would probably be a leave Friday come back Sunday or Monday. W.V. is a bit of a haul. Atvpathfinder.com has some good reviews on both. It is also easier for me to convince my wife I am just going to KY as opposed to W.V.

I'm going to complicate matters by introducing one more place: Black Mountain in Harlan County Ky. A neighbor of mine says it's a great place to ride if you need a place that suits everybody.

http://www.harlancountytrails.com/blackmountain.php

I mention it because I believe it's cheaper (I've sent an email about permits and such, can't find this info on the website) and perhaps a little closer. Use Evart, KY to find the distance for you.

Let's give what's been proposed a couple of days, say, Wednesday, before we can lock in on a place and time. Or timeS, plural, because I'm seeing a good case for a July ride and a September ride. If you know others that may be interested get some feedback by Wednesday.

I'd like to start making some arrangements soon if folks think staying in a cabin or such is preferred (it doesn't seem that expensive if we get a decent group). On the other hand, if everybody is sold on camping in a hot and humid environment, drunken rednecks roaming around, copperheads and rattlesnakes slithering about, portapotties plugged up, then we have more time to make a plan.

But the website says it is on Golden Pond, Ky Or I can say we are almost in Il.

Try http://www.atvpathfinder.com/ for a decent list of areas. I know it is mostly quads but good info on a whole bunch of areas.

You are such a complicated man, Jeb.

Black Mountain Adventure Park (using Evart as my destination) is only 399 mi – about 6 hours 22 mins from home!!!

That's a bigger possibility!!!

To hell with the email. I just picked up the phone and called....
get this....can all you people afford $20 a nite?!!!! That is what the girl told me. No additional fees, no fees for camping, blah, blah, blah! She said their two main rules are to wear a helmet and have a good time. (o, and no drinking and riding/driving.) Sounds like my kinda place. Now I just gotta talk the ol' man into it!!!! A little help here...

Update:

Two wheels? DEFINITELY! The tourism place isn't sure why those pics aren't available but two wheels are DEFINITELY a go-go!!

Just a phone call is all it takes.

So, when and where do we all meet?

So Black Mountain is turning into a possible preference, eh?

Where is it that only costs $20 per night? Do we need to make reservations?

Somewhere between Lexington and our destination would be a great meeting place. There's a couple of truck stops along the way and that would probably be a good spot to meet up. I'll get us an exit number and a spot.

I'm getting pumped!

I really wanted to go to KY. but found out it's a 9 HOUR Drive.....not six.

So, not to be a bummer, but maybe we could all go to Haspin.

Input?

We go to haspin alot. It does have alot to offer, but prolly not near as nice as black mountain, or H & Mc's. It is alot of open trails, 2 mx tracks, a dragstrip, and so on. It does have some decent trails. It can be very dusty when its dry, and when it has rained..........Talk about some slick, silty ass mudd! If this is a place where you think you might be able to make it to, i'm ok with that, but i believe, as far as the riding goes, we would enjoy the affermentioned places better. Just my 2 cents.......

I agree with Rick. It's fairly good but it's either dusty or muddy.

Not to make it sound like it's not a good place, though. Alot of people go there (especially on weekends) so it is favored by many.

My opinion: if you're a local it's a decent to go to every once in a while; if you're making a trip looking for the primo place to ride for several days there's a chance you might be disappointed.
