I have the moose guard coming in tommorow, I'm hopefully going to mount it for saturday's race.

Any tips on forming it to the pipe? I know they ship it flat....

rubber mallet should do it.
Make sure you got the clamp in the right spot and position, cuz they're a pain to remove

You guys used a rubber mallet to "form" the aluminum pipe guard to the pipe!? My install was a bunch harder; I tried to hammer it a little but, because of the thickness of the guard, I was afraid of denting the pipe.

went a little bit at a time, didn't dent anything. (I think I actually used a regular carpenter hammer cuz I broke the "expensive" chinese made rubber one I had )

Heated mine with a torch and formed it with a rubber mallet

I used good ol' brute strength! Whats wrong with you guys? Your hands broke and need an Autoclutch?

It's a plain old band clamp, isn't it? What's the pain part?

It comes with a few hose clamps - I got it today and hopefully will have it on by tonight. I have a harescramble saturday and would really like to have it doing its job by then.

Used your hands? This thing is thick, what kinda hands are you running there Inda? Rubber Mallet worked well? I'll probably go that route first.

Funny, the nice fellas on ThumperTalk talked about a lot more difficulties getting the guard on.... we shall see....

yeah I agree you can "mold" it by hand and finish witha mallet.
CC: what I mean by "position and orientation" was get the clamp out of "arm's way" and facing so that as it gets tighter you can still access them easily. I'll post some pics later, easier to explain.

it's probably harder if you are lefty and/or riding with one of'em "lazyclutch"

I couldn't bend the aluminum Moose Racing pipeguard with my bare hands, no way, you guys are a bunch of brutes!

I used a shot-filled plastic mallet. took about 10 minutes. I think one of the hose clamps they supplied was too small, so I bought a bigger one.

Sometimes you gotta hold on to the yellow one a little bit tighter

I may be a left-handed zooki rider, but damn, no way I'm bending that thing with my hands. I'll hopefully get it on friday for saturday though.....

The guard is almost on. I've got it formed the way I want it, I'm just going to tighten the clamps after work, and I'll need to stop by hardware for a 4th clamp.

It was easy - 1 screwdriver, 1 rubber mallet, and one hydraulic jack. I set the jack under the guard when it was position on the pipe, and that held the guard somewhat stable, then beat it with the mallet. Pretty simple. For $40, it's a guard I highly reccomend, unless you're a real well off guy like Ski, then go with the E-Line.
