Cool car canyncarvr. I have a 72 340 Cuda, that I am restoring, of course I rat holed the original numbers matching, low compression, cast crank 340 and am building a 70 model 340 to drive/play.

So would a 200 compared to a 220 be kinda like a 69 model X head 340 compared to a run of the mill 360? This I understand better!

I'll give a 200 a try when I get a chance, but all the guys I ride with ride woods prepped CRs and one has one of those funny orange bikes.

I ordered my .40 fork springs this week and plan to get some gold valves soon. I plan to do the R&B mods this winter when I want be riding to much.

My 02 is green all over, but not for long! I'm kinda drooling over the new black Clarke tank and I have an extra set of shrouds that will soon be something other than green. I plan to get the black front and rear MX fenders. I am thinking of trying some of the carbon fiber vinyl on the shrouds, has anyone tried covering them in vinyl with any success? Or I may just go with the mostly black FX graphics for the KDX! Any suggestions?

I have searched for graphics for a while and finally found a site that has
some unique stuff.
Not cheap but look good and you can design you own if you want

I think he meant he put it away in a safe place.

What else would you do with a #-matching part on a '72 'Cuda? Put it in your next garage sale with all your GM junk?

BB = Big Block

The car's not mine, it's my fathers car. I'm hoping one day he will give it to me but he laughs at the thought. Got to drive it a couple times though!

Sputtering is resolved. Ended up with a 38 pilot, 140 main and needle in the middle. I had to back my air screw out to far to suit me (about 4 turns), but with our temps and humidity I don't want to go any leaner on the pilot. We should be starting to cool off some soon and I will revisit my jetting then. I rode is about 20 miles this weekend in some pretty tight trails with a lot of up and down hills (It's TN). I was very satisfied with the performance. What I find so cool about the KDX compared to MX bikes I have ridden is, when going up a hill and the KDX starts to sound like it is bogging down I just give it a little more throttle and it keeps going. Most of my previous MX bikes would either just bog out completely or hid the power band so hard it would launch like a rocket.

I just might take a liking to the woods stuff after all. But my shoulder is sore from a poor log crossing technique. First time went fine after I got it to clear the frame. Second time approached a little fast and did a not so graceful dismount. I think my new fork springs should help with this.

Thanks for all of the help with the jetting guys.

Ya didn't try to hit a log laying down 45 degrees did ya? That can be done, but it is a tricky manuever.

RE: 'MX bikes would either just bog out completely or hid the power band so hard it would launch like a rocket'

That's what I deal with every time out

You can use the rocket to your advantage if you're smart enough!

No, I hit it at a good 90 degree angle. It is just is was about 12" -14" diameter and a few inches off the ground. It was mainly just technique error, but I think I could have save it if my forks were setup for my weight. UPS brought my springs today so I can;t wait to try it again with my .40 springs.

We didn't cross to many logs back in my MX days, but we did occassionally have bounce over a fellow rider or bike.

I used to like the rocket effect 25 years ago when I was 21. Now a days I need things a little more predictable. I don't heal as fast as I used to!

The jet sizes sound right . . . the 4 turns out don't, though. Is your carb bowl height set right?
