what i ordered was NOT the air striker. it was the normal pwk 35. i believe the air striker has some dividers and different air passages, but i am not knowledgable in any of these carbs enough to say.

honestly i have not checked the slide or needle numbers. all i did was play with the few (too lean!) jets that i had and decided to order some around the 50 and 150 ranges to start the jetting process for this carb. the NEEDLE is interesting, it's a brass color, mabey it's titanium ? no idea really. i would prefer that it be brass and wear out, instead of it being a harder metal that wears out the needle seat ;-)

i have about 100 miles on this carb now, and it's just plain faintastic. in tight single track i was cruising in third gear ( 13/48 gearing) when normally i would be shifting 1-2-3-2-1-2-3 with the old carb. this one makes the power flow sooo much easier to modulate. even the seasoned guys (c and b racers) looked suprised when i started the bike and it sounded so much better, idled, and pulled smoothly all day.

with pig rich (160 / 60) jets it managed 26 mpg where i would normally only get 19-20 on the old carb, and that would have been with 140/42 jets.

did not foul a plug, in areas i have before.
did not stall one time.
creeeeeeeped up and around TIGHT switchbacks, smooth like a butterfly, brrrrRIIPP brrrrRRRRIPP like i'ts supposed to.

i'm pretty happy ;-)

This weekend I finally got a nice long mixed ride of single track and fire roads on the new carb.

It performed flawlessly, from 50f mornings to 85f mid day, and after a 63mph full throttle run the plug was a perfect mocha tan , everywhere.

I'm getting about 26mpg, without any effort to conserve at all, in nasty tight single track .

72 miles )GPS tracked ( used less than three gallons. I'm completely happy with this pwk35.

And it bolts on with zero modifications?

Please let me/us know what you ended up with jetting wise in the new 35.

I have the same issues you had with the OE 33 carb on my 220... 38/142 jets, new jet block gasket, needle all the way down, PC pipe and silencer, stock everything else... still rich sputters slightly between 1/4 and 1/2-ish throttle. Runs like a bandit on the main, unpredictable anywhere else. It's rideable, but goes through fuel like there's a hole in the bottom of the gas tank and just does not sound right. It actually eats gas at twice the rate of my son's '99 CR250, but surprisingly zero spooge from the exhaust.

Been riding bikes and tuning cars for 40 of my 50 years, never had a carb as unresponsive to adjustment like this one is. :(
