that needle bearing is 92046 for $11.
use a magnet to know if the metal powder is aluminum or steel. aluminum won´t be attracted to the magnet.
if it is steel then you´ll need to use JBWeld to permanently attach a magnet to the drain plug to catch what is still there after an oil change.
I think Radio Shack sells a powerful small magnet that´s just right.

the needle bearing is the only one of that number on the crankcase diagram at ronayers.com and it presses into the left side case.

No, I had a magnet lying around. Is it the one on this diogram? Also the shaft that the clutch basket mounts to is solid so do you think this bearing is still shot...is this common? I remember you saying that if the po ran it low on oil this bearing pays the price so I'm not necessarily second guessing you but I wonder if the po just didn't change the oil for a long while and there was a lot of shavings accumulated because I have only done 3 oil changes and there has been less flake every time. Try cleaning up the marks/residue that are on your steel drive plates. When I've bought clutches, I have seen that before. But I've never had that on any of my bikes.

Aside from a little time, you don't have much to lose.

Also make sure none of your friction or drive plates are warped.

That what I was thinking. If the barking noise is still there then I will have to decide whether or not I want to try new clutch plates.

So I cleaned the residue off of the steel plates and got it back together finally, just took it for a spin and there's no noise so that was the problem. Thanks for all the help fellas, much appreciated.
