Excellent photos Inda. That's one BIG tire. I bet it could float the KDX across a lake!! Doug got a flat while riding with a big tire like that. The chain would snag on the side knobs when it was flat, so you couldn't even push the bike. He rode it flat and ripped knobs were flying everywhere!!!

my 1999 KDX220R comes stock with a 2.15 rear rim. FYI

Hey, cool! Thanks for pointing that out. I checked my parts cross reference software, and it shows '95 and up as 2.15". That is interesting to know!

I recalled my rim to be 2.15...but didn't take the time to verify it..so didn't say anything about it.

The KDX spec sheet doesn't list rim width. I didn't check further than that.

..for the tire, a $20 pair of gloves (my last $35 pair didn't work too good), an $8.50 tube and a $3 spark plug.

Yes, that is what I paid. BUT, there was a little gratitude in there somewhere having to do with my helping the guy with a computer problem so he was nice to me on the tire.

He DID say they (952s) are $5 less than a 756, so based on the last tire I got from him (don't know about the price NOW) it would have been just over $50.

I'm afraid I WILL discover exactly what you say I will.

At least you know me well enough to follow-up and check. Haw!!! (snort!)

One ride...40 miles. Nothing real nasty..some mud, some clay, fire roads...a pretty good mix of 'stuff'.

The tire worked fine!

Traction wasn't a problem (new tires are kind'a like that).

Braking was good (this is a non-directional tire....but I've ridden some other non-directionals that hooked up great but didn't brake for diddle).

At the end of the ride the knobs showed little wear.

The 120/90 is barely different height/width-wise from the 110/100 756s I usually run.

Brake-steer worked fine.

Remains to be seen how it will work in the slop..in the rain...wet roots and all that.

Looks like some good meat there CC.... let us know in a few days when you have 1000 miles on it how she performed!

My beater needs tires and I want something cheap and good...

I'm a fairweather rider, I guess. The snow and constant rain of the past 3-4 days sure kept me home, anyways.

Don't look for that 1000 miles any time real soon.

Just based on the 40 miles I'd say it would work good enough. NOT as long-wearing (but slicker than snot) as some. I'd rather replace a tire three times a year than have ONE during that time that didn't GET me places.

Form follows function again!! What's the point of having a tire LAST a long time when it's such a worthless piece of junk traction-wise that you HATE riding on it!!??

So...go pick one up!

I got a 952 for the front of my bike a couple of weeks ago. Now that I have some time on the tire I thought I would give a report. I usually hold no merit in advertising at all. But this tire does EXACTLY what Dunlop claims. My front doesn't wash out in loose stuff. Riding through deep sand is much easier. I don't get that OH CRAP I'm going to crash feeling when laying the bike down during hard cornering. Rocky terrain feels good and no missing knobs. I cant give any details about wet weather riding as it hasn't rained here in over 100 days

IMO great tire for the money.

So CC.... how do you like the tire after you got some @sstime on it? I am ready to get my new tires for the spare and would like to try these tires out.

The only real issue I have ever had with any Dunlop or Intermediate tire is that when I get on hardpack.... they like to break loose... especially the front.

I was just going to try a matched set... Price is good and most reviewers seem to like the tire.

So what ever happened to the experiment into the Dunlop 952?

I'm ready to stock up on tires and will get a 756 for the rear and a 755 for the front since that is what I have on now unless someone can tell me why not.
