use a 6 mm (or 7?) deep socket to remove the cap, then the needle+clip will fall out.

Just so I understand, once I unscrew the black plastic top off the carb, I'd take a socket or wrench to what exactly? Do you have a photo you could show me?

OK. I see now. Just take a wrench and unscrew that and the whole piece will come apart?

As for the black plastic cap; lol... that's part# 16004-1070 CAP, CHAMBER.

You'll have to use a socket. Hopefully the PO did not put it in too tight. Hopefully you will just give it a snug and a wee bit more.
The material it is made of is pretty soft.

I guess I'm just having trouble visualizing how this thing is supposed to come apart. Once the chamber cap is unscrewed, the whole assembly comes out of the carb. Now how do you get the carb slide off? Once the slide is off, I assume then that a deep socket would be needed as the needle is still attached to the throttle cable connector? Why a socket and not a box wrench?

If I have enough time, I'll take a look at the carb assembly when I get home. Hopefully it'll make more sense then.

1 compress spring against cap
2 get the white piece of plastic out of the way
3 disengage cable from slide
4 get on all 4 to find the dang piece of plastic and spring cuz u drop them
5 get socket to remove cap for the needle
6 get needle out
7 before you do anything else with the clip and needle: go to a place that's clean, get some good pliers before you remove the needle clip. that clip is small and very easy to lose...

Awesome. Thanks Scheckaet!

I'll remind myself not to disassemble during or after drinking.

Made a whole lot more sense when I got home and actually had the carb in my hands. I was able to get the needle out and moved the clip to the 3rd position from bottom. It was on the second position and the bike ran quite rich. Before, I could barely get the front wheel up on second. I'll see how she does tomorrow.
