Everyone repeat after me..."ice cream maker". It also doubles as a Ginsu knife sharpener.

I think it was requested by Jeff Fredette for freestyling during ISDE races for style points. It worked so good on the E that he got two on the H! :lie:

Anyone that was around during the Ginsu knife dynasty would know that they never need sharpening.

It's a tow strap mount point so you can pull your buddy's KTM out of the woods.

I use them to tie my bike to my hitch carrier. It works well and I don't know where I would run the strap if those weren't there. I run 1 strap to each handlebar back to a hook in the center and then one strap looped around those little hooks back to the middle so the bike is sort of being pulled toward the middle from the front and from the back. I have a pic to get an idea but I'll take some new pics of it underneath too for better idea.

It could be a remnant passenger peg mount from another frame line like a KLR.

AT BREAKFAST THE OTHER MORNING I ASKED THE OWNER OF KAWASAKI ABOUT THOSE BENT STEMS AND HE SAID "DEFINATELY GRAB HANDLES" . IF YOU THROUGH YOUR HAND OVER FROM STAND ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE BIKE FACING FORWARD AND GRAB THERE LIKE YOU WERE GOING TO PUT IT UP ON A STAND THERE WILL BE NO DOUGHT IN YOUR MIND ANY MORE.!!! IT JUST FEELS RIGHT!!!

I agree. Can I also ask you to please stop typing your posts all in caps? Forum posts all in caps is the equivalent of yelling during a conversation. It's bad forum etiquette.

Let me start by saying that this is still a mystery.

I have been looking at different pictures of different KDX's and have noticed something....

The E series have two of the "stems" the H has one.

The E series has the exhaust to protect on the right side and the coolant tank on the left.

The H has the exhaust to protect on the right and the coolant tank is up front behind the radiator so no need for the "stem" on the left.

:hmm:

I have to disagree, i grabbed mine there earlier today , and the pipe is all in the way of getting a good grip.

Im sorry about the caps. Im just saying thats what they are for. When you finally get the grab just right you will see what i mean. Of course i understand about the pipe, is it stock and is it in its original position also some bikes had one because majority of population is right handed, they felt it was not cost effective.

I'm calling BS on this one. I am right handed and have dumped the bike or got it stuck where I needed to grab it with my left hand or on the left side.

On my bike as well there is NO room to get ahold of the "stem" with out also grabbing the (most likely very hot) exhaust. With out gloves on I can't even fit my hand between the "stem" and the pipe and if I were to try to tug on the "stem" I would be pulling mostly on the pipe.

But I'm not from MD so I don't get to have breakfast with the owner of Kawasaki very often.
