Still at 10 psi? That tire may need more, looked pretty soft in the videos. Every tire is different.

The flex is supposed to be the magic of the trials right? I've yet to try one but am thinking soon.

Gravel roads and hard pack feel like ****

feels like the tire is sliding all over the place BUT IT"S NOT

it's just that the knobs are so squishy and they make the back end feel loose

Hard to get used to it. Soon as you get on to singletrack the feeling goes away

traction was good all day

OK. How come?

Different riding area, all hardpack clay and decomposed granite with loose sand and gravel

Started out at 10psi, every time I'd start to get on the pipe the ass end would want to swap out with the front

So I tried 8psi, it got worse

So them I went to 13psi, maybe a little better but I could not trust it.

About the time you thought everything was ok the muther fugger would pitch sideways

I rode a bunch of trails and as long as you were lugging along it worked pretty good. But as soon as you put any kinda power to it it'd kick out or throw my ass to the ground

I wrecked 3 fugging times, HARD. Good thing I wear all the gear

Just for the $#@& of it I tried 5psi. On the gravel road I was running it felt pretty good. So then I tried some singletrack. It was mostly just a one lane rut about 10" across and 4" deep. It sucked, I didn't even make it up the easy parts. Felt just like riding on a flat tire and any time I tried giving any gas it would pitch me sideways

I think the sidewalls are just too soft for a 295lb rider

It felt pretty good the other day at 70*

Today was mid 90's

It was just like a piece of bubble gum on hot asphalt

Maybe one of the MT43's would work better for you? It supposedly has a stiffer sidewall than other TT's.

Eh, I know trials tires are all the rage amongst singletrackers but I have yet to have a situation where a traditional knobby failed to get the job done. I will be sticking with I know works for me.

It's what I run on the Vstrom. Best tire I've ever run on it in 89,500 miles

Started to pitch me into the weeds and when I killed the motor I think the knobs being so soft just would not hold on the high side of the rut. Either that or the tire just folded over on itself

So, according to the video, this tire rates a solid four F***s on the Whibbyscale.

It might be interesting to try that tire on the slick, snotty roots and rocks of the north east. I know I like my Dunlop D803 in those conditions.

I think "shinko" is the problem. Most likely there's a reason nobody is running them ;).

You should try a proper trials tire before you make the judgement call that you don't like trials tires in general.

I like knobbies

I have three bikes with trials tires and only one of them is a trials bike. I like them, but that don't mean you will. I like knobbies just as much as trials tires, but in these rocks around here they don't last. The TT last at least twice maybe three times as long. The do hook-up better than the knobby on most terrain, but that can come with a side effect elsewhere.

To each his own! A lot of the stuff I run equipment wise, I know that there are things that may be better. I keep running what I have been using for years because I'm comfortable with it. Why else would we all be riding KDX's.

I would like to see a review of the SHINKO 255 on a 2.15 rim. My experience is the same as Wibs and I wonder if the narrower rim doesn't change the profile to much. Just a thought.
