Those are waterbars, they help keep the clay road and trails from getting washed out during the winter.

well got my 150 x 4 gb sd card (from KDXer link on ebay). I have no clearance issue with the helmet cam, same size as my 1 and 2 gb card.
it works fine on my MP3 player, BUT it doesn't work with the cam

. Tried to format and reformat with no luck, I have a message on the display: "E" and I assume it's error. Too bad, I'll stick to the 1 and 2 gb

I received the Oregon Scientific ATC-2000 as a xmas gift. I used it a few times getting the correct mounting location on my helmet. I have it solid mounted directly to my helmet using the handlebar mount that I modified. Vidio looked ok for just riding up and down the street.
I went riding this weekend and gave the camera its first real test at Jones Creek near Camas Wa. Terrain is lots of rocks and roots through the forest.
It also has some excellent long uphills that are a blast to ride fast...if you dont get bounced off.
Veridct on the vidio quality is poor. Very very choppy, jerky vidio. Sound was ok, I had very little distortion.
Maybe I expect to much, The rough riding no doubt doesnt help vidio quality but I thought it would look better than it did.
I think on a street bike it would probably be very decent.
I am already looking for something better.

Go with tape...digital8 and a bullet cam. Can't improve on the quality. Lines of resolution exceed what computers and web can display, and meet the capabilities of most TVs. Best part is that there is no choppiness. I planted myself a little over a week ago in the Trask and there were no aberrations in the video.

Flying W,
Thanks for the camera advice.
I see you post frequently over at TT.

Keep up the good work in the Burn.

WooHoo! You too!
Take a (spring) break next week and I'll tour you around and show you all the places I've augured.
