Re: Donation Acknowledgement
Chuck, Julien D maintains the forum server. He told me last week that he is well aware the website needs to be "refreshed." However, he's not been able to get to it. He expressed hope that he can / will soon.

Re: Donation Acknowledgement
You're exactly right, Chuck. The certificate errors are always my bad. I have to renew them every 30 days and I often forget. The slowness I have been trying to figure out for a while. It's an SQL issue, but I can't quite nail it down. My current plan is to just migrate to a new and updated server, but that's a couple day commitment for time, and I haven't had the time to spend on it yet. I will get there as soon as I can.Chuck78 wrote: 03:20 pm Jun 01 2026 I was wondering the server hosting situation myself. I believe it's paid out of the forum owner's pocket with donations reimbursing a portion of that.
It seems to be a little bit glitchy lately, sometimes very slow, sometimes security certificate issues where I can't view the forum without checking a box every time I navigate to another page clicking that I acknowledge I may be at risk.
At some point later this year I would be in a position to potentially donate a good chunk to upgrade the host server &/or software to avoid these issues and make things more reliable.

Thank you for all you do, Julien!
I know very little about that sort of server hosting technology or upkeep, I'm glad you do!
Keep us posted, and thanks in advance!

Re: Donation Acknowledgement
Hey, Billie. Just to satisfy your curiosity, I have the server hosted with Digital Ocean on a linux droplet. This is all manual as far as setup, configuration, and maintenance. No web hosting front end. It is a dedicated server, and I pay that fee monthly. It has gotten quite expensive over the years as the site and it's requirements have grown. With the monthly digital ocean bill + domain reg and all, the donations help, but they certainly do not cover the cost of upkeep. I'm ok with that. I'm adverse to hosting ads or anything else to cover expenses. As long as it's not a hardship, I'll keep it going. :)billie_morini wrote: 03:01 pm May 31 2026 I am curious. Where does the KDX forum reside? Is it on a private server owned by a forum member? Is it on a commercially-accessible server? If on the latter, who pays the annual fees? If so, are they receiving adequate donations or are they paying fro their own pocket?
Thanks again for your support!!
